It is with passion when we pick fruits and vegetables from the finca. We're still fascinated by the mystery of how earth, water, and sun provide us with the most flavorful, honest, and healthy food.

But of course, growing your own food isn't always successful. We face so many failures as well. There are simply good and bad years due to weather conditions, plant diseases, and so on. But in any case, we don't want to resort to toxic substances in our own environment. We believe in permaculture without the use of pesticides and herbicide as the over all  longest lasting solution.

Experiencing the challenges on this small scale makes us wonder how it's still possible (let alone sustainable) to grow healthy food on a large scale. As many people I have my doubts about this, given the ongoing industrialization of the food sector under the control of large, profit-driven multinationals.

So this is another incentive to grow our own food, besides the fact that it's our passion.

We grow fruits and vegetables, almonds and olives for oil, but also some plants for tea, such as jiaogulan, verbena, mint, and loquat leaf.

In the first photos here you see jiaogulan (immortality herb), which we grow and dry in the summer to drink as a tea in the winter. Much has already been written about the health benefits of this special plant. The last photos I just captured in the vegetable garden where melons and tomatoes etc. are ripening in the sun.
